Aldi takes on starbucks with 50p treat and it might just be onto something

There's always something new arriving in Aldi's aisles and its newest addition is causing quite some excitement. The retailer has taken on Starbucks by launching its own cake pops,

which shoppers are desperate to get their hands on. We managed to pick up both flavours from the store - Birthday Cake and Cookies & Cream. At £1.99 for a pack of four, working out

around 50p a cake, they're much cheaper than Starbucks' £3.35 creations. The cookies one is nice, with a sweet vanilla flavouring, white chocolate coating and dark cookie crumb

sprinkles. But our favourite by far was the Birthday Cake one delivering 'a sweet strawberry and vanilla combo' with pink strawberry flavoured coating and tiny white sprinkles. You

been searching stores for the Village Bakery treats after Aldi shared details online. "I haven’t been able to find any at all ! I’ve been to about 7 different shops," said one,

with another adding: "I've searched in 5 different stores for my girls and can't find them." Of those who have managed to find them, opinions seem divided. "Birthday

cake ones are amazing," said one mum. "My boys new favourites." Another said: "Tried both, very nice." But others weren't as happy and described them as

'horrible' and 'all mush and no cake'. If you want to try them for yourself, the packs are available in stores now and can be found with other packaged cakes near the

bread shelves.
