Ruben Amorim is now just hours away from embarking on his first summer transfer window as Manchester United head coach. The window will initially open on Sunday before briefly closing again

on Tuesday, June 10. The window is opening earlier than usual due to an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup taking place this summer. The window will then

reopen on Monday, June 16 until the 7pm deadline on Monday, September 1, meaning clubs will have plenty of time to get deals over the line and their squads in order for the 2025/26 campaign.

For United, a summer transfer window has never felt so important. The club experienced its worst campaign in 51 years this season and much-needed changes are required across the board.

However, as a result of missing out on European qualification for next term, United will not be able to make as many alterations as they would have been able to had they made it into the

Champions League. Amorim admitted this week United "cannot do much". It means player sales, which could include the departures of Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, could

dictate what United are capable of. They want to strengthen their attack as a priority and are already well on their way to doing so. Barring any late hiccups, Wolves star Matheus Cunha will

become their first signing of the summer. United remain in talks with the Midlands outfit over how to structure the payment of his £62.5million release clause. If and when United get that

deal over the line, he is expected to slot straight into Amorim's first-choice XI and occupy the left-sided No.10 spot. He is well-versed playing that role in a three-at-the-back

formation. United had also earmarked Ipswich Town ace Liam Delap as their priority target to strengthen the No.9 position. United desperately need a striker this summer and Delap was an

attainable option at £30m. However, he is now on the cusp of joining Chelsea, meaning United's search for a striker is going to have to lead them elsewhere. Despite scoring 12 goals for

a relegated side this season, Delap is still raw and unproven. United, instead, need a more established figure that can offer a greater guarantee of goals. Napoli's Victor Osimhen

would be the ideal option for United. Napoli are keen to offload him as quickly as possible this summer after his loan spell at Galatasaray, which saw him score 36 goals, and he has a proven

record of scoring goals just about everywhere he has been. Of course, the elephant in the room is that United cannot offer any prospective signings European football for next season.

Osimhen would be a guaranteed starter and the prospect of achieving his dream of playing in the Premier League could convince him to make the move. Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo has also been

linked with United over the past week or so and he would be another statement signing. He scored 20 Premier League goals this season and is going to command plenty of interest this summer.

He would be a perfect fit for United's front-three, operating as the right-sided No.10. He also has the versatility that Amorim wants in his players. With strengthening the attack

having to take priority this summer, the rest of United's squad may largely remain unchanged. Player sales, as already documented, will dictate what is available. There are cases for

United to strengthen in the centre of midfield and in goal. However, United are reasonably well-stocked in other areas, meaning recruitment in lesser priority positions may have to wait

beyond this summer. But if Fernandes is sold for the mooted £100m fee that Al-Hilal are reportedly ready to pay, more could be achievable. United, though, should be attempting to keep the

Portuguese international amid his importance to the team. UNITED'S DREAM 20-MAN MATCHDAY SQUAD AFTER THREE NEW SIGNINGS: STARTING XI: Onana; Yoro, Maguire, Heaven; Amad, Ugarte,

Fernandes, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Osimhen. SUBSTITUTES: Bayindir, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot, Mainoo, Mount, Zirkzee, Obi.
