Ruben amorim has hinted at his man united job security and ineos must act fast

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Ineos, Gary Neville, Ruben Amorim and at least 95 per cent of the Manchester United fanbase believe that the rebuild of the club to where it once was, will take time.

Since Sir Alex Ferguson left United in 2013, the club has slowly fallen further and further downwards, hitting new low after new low with very few upturns in fortune. Now, the Reds find

themselves well on track for a bottom half finish and no European football next season. It is a pretty dire state of affairs. Erik ten Hag had to leave at the end of October as his position

had become untenable. His choice of recruitment has potentially pushed United back another three years in their road back to the glory days. Amorim's arrival has been met with

positivity and it is clear that supporters are ready to welcome his fresh approach. However, there was a hope that a fresh face could bring about a change in fortune and that, sadly, has not

been the case. Good results against the top teams have been overshadowed by desperate performances in games they really should be winning. When United are expected to win and have more of

the ball, they fall to pieces. Nobody accepts that the current situation is good enough, neither does anyone think that Amorim is beyond scrutiny either - perhaps he does need to be more

pragmatic with his tactics to get the deal over the line. But this idea that Amorim's job could be in danger before he is given a summer transfer window seems absurd. And yet, when he

spoke to the media in his pre-Leicester City press conference, that scenario appeared to be the case. "Like we said before, we are fighting for our jobs until the summer. I am just

focused on these games," he said after being asked about Marcus Rashford's future. The assertion that the current United players are fighting for their jobs, would be fair. This

current group has put paid to one manager at least and the majority have not improved dramatically since Ten Hag left. Amorim though should not be in that boat. He is the fresh face that

could change United's fortunes if he is given the time and the backing by Ineos but it appears the Portuguese head coach already fears that his time is ticking which would only leave

the club in the same place as where Amorim found it. Now is the time for Ineos to send their backing to Amorim and allow him to complete the clearout this summer instead of cutting ties with
