SOAP FANS HAVE HAD TO WAIT SEVERAL DAYS TO SEE THE ACTION UNFOLD 19:29, 03 Jun 2025 The British Soap Awards 2025 marks the biggest night of the year for stars of the nation’s favourite
serial dramas, but what channel is it on, what time does it start and who won? Despite taking place at Hackney Empire in London on Saturday night, the annual event is yet to air on TV. Held
at the beginning of every summer, the ceremony sees stars from rival UK programmes coming together to celebrate what makes soaps special. First taking place in 1999, the Soap Awards
recognise the best performances and moments from soapland over the past twelve months. After skipping 2024, this year’s ceremony was hosted by Loose Women panelist Jane McDonald for the
second time. Whether you’re a Coronation Street fanatic, Emmerdale stan, EastEnders expert or even a Hollyoaks enthusiast, there’s something for everyone at the British Soap Awards. Article
continues below WHAT CHANNEL IS THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS 2025 AIRING AND WHAT TIME DOES IT BEGIN? While the British Soap Awards 2025 were held on Saturday, ITV were airing the final of
Britain’s Got Talent as it took place. The station has not aired the ceremony live since 2022, back when Philip Schofield hosted the awards for the 15th and final time. Last airing
prerecorded in 2023, fans only had to wait three days to watch the action unfold, instead of the five day wait the public has had to endure this year. The awards will air at 8pm on Thursday,
June 5, on ITV1 and ITVX, with the programme scheduled to conclude at 10pm in time for ITV News. WHO WON AT THE BRITISH SOAP AWARDS 2025? Due to the event taking place several days ago,
many fans already know what went down on the night, so look away now if you don't! EastEnders dominated the event, picking up a staggering eight prizes, including Best British Soap for
the 13th time. Steve McFadden, who plays Phil Mitchell, took home the award for Best Dramatic Performance and EastEnders also claimed the award for Best Single Episode for Phil’s Psychosis
which saw him hallucinate scenes from the Mitchell family home in 1985. Scene of the Year went to Angie Watts’ shock return as a ghost during its 40th anniversary episode in February. Also
picking up accolades for the BBC series was Navin Chowdhry, Patsy Palmer, Lacey Turner, Rudolph Walker and Angela Wynter. Finishing in second place was Hollyoaks, with the Channel 4
programme taking home three awards including Best Newcomer for Isabelle Smith, who plays Frankie Osborne. ITV’s Emmerdale won Best Young Performer for 16-year old Amelia Flanagan, who plays
April Windsor, daughter of police officer Donna Windsor and chef Marlon Dingle. Coronation Street took home only one prize with an outstanding achievement award for David Neilson, cafe owner
