Uk's rental hotspots where rents are rising by 'hundreds of pounds a month'

Registry has unveiled 21 parts of the country where rents are rising by hundreds of pounds a month on average. It now cost an average of £1,335 a month to rent a home privately in the UK,

according to the latest data from April 2025. That figure has gone up by £92 compared to a year earlier, which is an annual increase of 7.4 percent and is more than twice the current rate of

inflation. In March 2024, rent prices were 9.1 percent higher than a year earlier, which was the highest year-on-year growth of any month on record. Across the UK, rents are increasing much

faster in some areas than in others - and unsurprisingly it is in London where prices have risen the most. The London borough of Camden has seen the largest monetary increase in the cost of

renting privately. Article continues below The average rent in the area is now £2,836 a month, which is £333 more than it was a year ago. In Kensington and Chelsea, rents have increased by

£312 a month, whilst in Westminster they’re up by £304. In Hammersmith and Fulham, rents have risen by £279 and in Broxbourne, they've soared by £248 a month. Meanwhile, Newport in

Wales has seen the largest percentage increase in private rents over the last year. The typical cost to rent a home in the town is now 20 percent higher than it was a year ago. The average

rent here now stands at £918 a month, which is £155 more than in April 2024. In Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, average rents have gone up by 18 percent in the last year, whilst in Melton,

Leicestershire, they’re up by 15 percent. Rents have also gone up by 15 percent in the last year in Slough, Berkshire, and in Trafford, Greater Manchester, rent prices have also soared by 14
