PLANS HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE COUNCIL. 16:30, 30 May 2025 An ‘ageing’ industrial site in Salford is set to be transformed into a 'regional headquarters' for a food distribution
company. Plans have been shared by Bidfood to build a new distribution centre in the city, on a site based at Langley Road in Pendleton. The firm hopes to develop the area and turn it into
its ‘regional headquarters’ based in Salford. The 63,000 square metre space is on the west side of Langley Road, and could be turned into a place for the company to store and ship out its
products, which are used across the UK. Bidfood says it supplies more than 10,000 products to 45,000 customers in sectors such as hospitality, care homes, schools, hospitals, and
universities. The plans include a temperature-controlled warehouse with offices, and a car park with 275 spaces. Article continues below A second plot of land in the south east corner of the
land has been earmarked for new warehouses by the company. The area is currently housing ‘ageing industrial units’ which are set to be demolished, as well as an existing Bidfood facility
which will be pulled down to make way for new development. The site is based a short distance from that A6, with direct links to Salford and Manchester city centres, and the M60 is also a
short distance away. Major regeneration work is taking place around Salford, with new offices and homes being built as part of plans to modernise the city. With a growing population and huge
demand for housing, more people are coming to Salford and looking at it as a place to live and work. _****_ _Day in day out, our reporters in the Manchester Evening News newsroom bring you
