THE TOWNHOUSE WILL TAKE OVER THE FORMER SITE OF BUCA DI BACCO 18:30, 21 May 2025 Harrington's has confirmed the site’s official opening date and it’s within days. The aptly named bar,
located on Harrington Street in Liverpool's city centre, is breathing a burst of new life into an old building. The venue will be split over two floors on the unassuming street, tucked
away between Castle Street and North John Street. Upstairs, there will be a bar playing funk, soul, Motown, and disco, and downstairs, there will be a games room with live music. Pool
tables, dart lanes, and private karaoke rooms will round off downstairs. Work started on the refurbishment of the site, which was once Buca di Bacco, at the start of this year. Where the
Italian restaurant used to be, the new venue's games room will now be. The venue, opposite Scruffy Murphy's, has confirmed it will open on Saturday, May 24, during the bank holiday
weekend. A spokesperson for Harrington's said: “We are well into our refit of this site and look forward to bringing this old building back to life. Harrington's will create
around 20 new full and part-time jobs and will be open in Spring 2025. Article continues below “Placed ideally between the business district and the retail areas of Liverpool One,
Harrington's is the perfect spot for post-shopping drinks or, indeed pre pre-Castle Street meal drinks.” The Townhouse will feature live music to celebrate Liverpool FC’s Premier League
Champions victory alongside the city’s parade. The pub's opening comes after the ECHO reported how those living on the street previously said they were being kept away throughout the
night by people "screaming, fighting and blaring music". It came as Liverpool Council's licensing committee met to discuss another new venture, not Harrington's, in the
area. Residents were worried about the impact another late-night venue would have on the street, so the committee agreed to that the hours would be reduced amid the concerns. Ahead of a
showdown with the city council’s licensing and gambling subcommittee, people living around Harrington Street submitted formal objections to proposals for the new premises to open until at
least three am on Fridays and Saturdays into Sunday. Article continues below One objector said how they were unable to sleep owing to noise emanating from venues operating late into the
night, and feared another licensed premises would add to their anxieties. However, a deal has been struck between the applicant, a company called PM Nights Ltd, and the local authority’s
committee to reduce hours to placate residents' needs. Karl Barry, the applicant's agent, said he felt they had “gone further than most would do.” Originally, it had been proposed
that the venue would open until 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and sell alcohol until then. During Sunday to Thursday, hours would be kept from 9 am to 2 am.
