THE ECHO SPOKE TO FANS AS THE LAND OF HOPE AND DREAMS TOUR GOT UNDERWAY AT ANFIELD 05:00, 05 Jun 2025 Bruce Springsteen fever has taken over Anfield as the legendary musician played the

first of two gigs in Liverpool last night. The Boss took to the stage in L4 on Wednesday for another show-stopping performance as he continues the European leg of his Land of Hope and Dreams

tour. The 75-year-old has forged a deep emotional connection with his fans and many arrived at Anfield hours before the show to soak up the atmosphere ahead. Fans came from all corners of

the world to see the Born to Run singer in Liverpool. Nick Buckland travelled from Cape Town in South Africa to see the show with his daughter, Rachel. The 65-year-old told the ECHO it was

particularly special to enjoy the occasion with his daughter and loved visiting Liverpool for the first time. There were also many from Merseyside who were thrilled to bag tickets for a

hometown show to the see Springsteen. The ECHO was in attendance and asked fans why seeing the Boss in Merseyside was such a special experience. The Born In the USA has admitted it was a

long held dream to perform in Liverpool as The Beatles played a pivotal role in influencing him to become a musician. However, fans said it was more than just his musical influences why

Springsteen and Liverpool is the perfect fit. Ed Adams was one of the first in the queue for the rear pitch standing section and he told the ECHO: "The thing with Bruce is that

he's not forgotten his roots. He's not forgotten where he's come from and he does speak up for working class people in America and all over the world. Article continues below

"He's a good voice and more people should listen to him . He's an incredible artist and an incredible man. Long may he continue and long may I continue to come and see

him." Kevin, from Mossley Hill, was one of the lucky people to be in the roll call for the front pitch standing. He said it was a dream come true to see Springsteen in his home city. He

told the ECHO: "I didn't think it would really happen. He understands working class people and he just writes such poignant lines regarding his father going to work every day and

working his fingers to the bone." Kevin laughed: "He's a working class guy, although he's never worked in his life at a proper job." Michael Kelly, from Donegal,

Ireland is a huge Liverpool FC supporter and he said Springsteen's values aligned perfectly with Bill Shankly, who helped set the modern identity for the Reds. He told the ECHO:

"Seeing Bruce in the place where Bill Shankly plied his trade, he was the ultimate socialist. I love that side of Liverpool. It's just a legacy that Liverpool and Merseyside stays

true to working people." He added: "I was flabbergasted when it was revealed he was playing at Anfield and it was an opportunity not to be missed. This will be the 15th time

I've ever seen him. And the first time outside Ireland." Louise Adamson travelled to Liverpool for the gig from where she now lives in San Francisco. The 65-year-old met her

husband, Ken, while they both studied at the University of Liverpool and bonded through their love of Springsteen's music. She agreed returning to the city to watch Springsteen play

live alongside her husband felt particularly fitting, adding: "He's such an empathetic person. He picks up all of those important themes and things that people can really relate to

and I think that's why people love him so much." Les, from Liverpool, was attending with his two sons and said: "It will be very special. One of his songs is called My

Hometown and, if he sings that, it will be very special and fantastic to hear that at Anfield. "His music is very special to all of us. If I'm feeling a bit low and down, then his

music just lifts me." His son, Peter, added: "We've seen [Springsteen] in Edinburgh, Wembley, Cardiff and we always said "to see him in our hometown would be amazing so

it feels like a dream. Article continues below "Is he actually coming? We've been calling it Brucemas Day." BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN'S LAND OF HOPE AND DREAMS TOUR WILL CONTINUE

AT ANFIELD ON SATURDAY, JUNE 7.
