Summer is the perfect time for refreshing drinks and fruity flavours. The only thing better than sipping on a lightly sparkling beverage is doing so outside in the sun. The truest sign of
summer’s arrival for me is marked by the first ordering of an Aperol Spritz. With so many sunny beer gardens in Liverpool to enjoy, it is a dreamy way to spend a warm evening. With the bank
holiday weekend ahead, many of us will also be planning to enjoy a summery drink at home. Whether you are hosting a BBQ, watching the sunset from your balcony, or having a picnic, there’s
nothing like having an ice-cold glass in hand to complement the moment. Personally, as much as I love an Aperol or Campari Spritz, I don’t tend to drink them at home mostly because the
ingredients are more expensive than getting a bottle of wine or a few beers. But I often crave the bittersweet citrus flavours, which, to me, are perfect for this season. So when I
discovered Tesco's Spritzi Aperitivo for £5, I felt I was onto a winner. The spritz is described as an aromatic blend of citrusy yuzu and delicate pink pepper spice. The lightly
sparkling drink with its fresh flavours immediately satisfied all my summer drink cravings. Deeper flavours reminded me of botanical-based drinks like Campari, though with a less intense
flavour. As recommended, I served the drink over ice. The wine-based drink could be a great option for someone who likes a summery cocktail but hasn’t yet been converted to the divisive
flavours of Aperol. Though there is also a blood orange flavour on offer as well as an elderflower version. It is also a great option for white wine spritz lovers, though it adds a fruity
and floral flavour that elevates it to a special occasion feel without a big price tag. For £5 for an 8.4% ABV (alcohol by volume) bottle, this will definitely be my go-to summer drink.
