Everton complete permanent signing of carlos alcaraz

Everton have completed the permanent transfer of Carlos Alcaraz on a contract until 2027. The Argentine attacker joins after a successful six-month loan spell from Brazilian club Flamengo.

The 22-year-old, who previously played in the Premier League and Championship with Southampton, scored two goals and notched three assists in 19 appearances, including seven starts, after

arriving in January. Everton took the decision to trigger the £12.6million option to make the move permanent following the conclusion of the season, with the Blues winning 1-0 at Newcastle

United on the final day thanks to Alcaraz's headed goal. And the attacker will now become David Moyes' first permanent signing since the Scot returned to the club earlier this year

after talks with Flamengo progressed well this week. Alcaraz had made clear his desire to remain on Merseyside and give the Premier League a second shot having previously played for the

Saints. Securing Alcaraz will go some way to addressing the concerns over Abdoulaye Doucoure’s departure, with the former Juventus man having shown he too can provide goals from a central

role when provided the opportunity. Everton are still in talks with Idrissa Gueye about extending the midfielder's spell with the club. The 35-year-old was named Everton's Player

of the Season but his contract expires this summer. The two deals are seen as an important start to the squad rebuilding programme embarked upon by Moyes ahead of the move to the Hill

Dickinson Stadium in the summer. The Toffees had also registered their interest in Liam Delap and held talks with the Ipswich Town forward, but he now looks set for Chelsea.
