IT HAS BEEN A BUSY WEEK FOR LIVERPOOL FORWARD CODY GAKPO AMID UNEXPECTED TRANSFER SPECULATION ABOUT HIS FUTURE 06:00, 30 May 2025 For the majority of the 2024/25 season, Cody Gakpo was the

Liverpool forward with seemingly the most secure future. Restored to his favoured left-wing position by incoming head coach Arne Slot, the Dutchman responded with his best season for the

Reds yet. Making 49 appearances in all competitions, the 26-year-old delivered 18 goals and six assists. And it was perhaps no coincidence then when his best run of form was halted in its

tracks by injury in February, Liverpool also suffered as their Champions League and League Cup campaigns subsequently came to a premature end. Only Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz made more

appearances in all competitions than Gakpo, such was his importance under Slot. READ MORE: Florian Wirtz has made the right decision choosing Liverpool - Supporters will fall in loveREAD

MORE: Darwin Nunez sends four-word Liverpool message as transfer uncertainty continues And across the season, as Salah’s contract saga rumbled on and Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and

Federico Chiesa continued to be linked with Anfield exits, Gakpo was the only forward who looked assured of being at the club next season. So, it was perhaps somewhat typical that no sooner

had Liverpool’s Premier League campaign come to an end that Gakpo unexpectedly also found himself linked with a move away. And while the Dutchman had the Premier League trophy in his hands

while touring the city on top of an open top bus no less, as Sky Germany reported that Bayern Munich were weighing up a move for the forward. Article continues below Given that Liverpool are

set to beat the Bavarians to the signing of Florian Wirtz, such reports were initially met with skepticism. Nothing more than bitter Bayern mischief, perhaps. But the Daily Mail has since

claimed that there is foundation to such reports, though dismissed the possibility of the Reds wishing to sell. Gakpo is seemingly unfazed by such speculation at least in what has been a

busy week for the forward as the Liverpool squad enjoy the start of their summer holidays - well, before reporting for international duty, that is. The forward was down in London on Tuesday,

pictured attending the UK Premiere of Netflix’s latest sports documentary series, ‘F1: The Academy’ at Leicester Square. And since then, it was on to Paris for the French Open. On

Wednesday, he was pictured watching the Men's Singles Second Round match between Carlos Alcaraz of Spain and Fabian Marozsan of Hungary at Roland Garros. There, he bumped into Paris

Saint-Germain forward Goncalo Ramos, ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final in Munich. Having knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League in this season’s round-of-16, that’s one

forward who will definitely be at Bayern’s stadium in the not-too-distant future at least. While it’s holiday time for the Reds squad, it is admittedly a different story for club bosses as

Liverpool go about their summer transfer business. Gakpo’s international team-mate, Jeremie Frimpong, flew to England at the start of the week to finalise his £29m move to Anfield - though

it has not yet been completed - and had since reported for international duty with the Netherlands. The Dutch are in World Cup qualifying action against Finland and Malta next month, with

Gakpo, Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch due to report for duty - and catch up with their soon-to-be new team-mate at club-level - in due course. Liverpool are also in talks with Bayer

Leverkusen regarding a potential club-record deal for Frimpong’s team-mate, Florian Wirtz, while they are interested in signing Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth. There are expected to be further

changes to their attacking ranks too, with Darwin Nunez likely to move on and the Reds tipped to pursue a new centre-forward even if they land Wirtz. Article continues below Meanwhile, Luis

Diaz, Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa also continue to be the subject of transfer speculation. By securing Salah’s future back in April, Liverpool have already nailed down one forward for

next season. And despite Bayern’s interest in Gakpo, the Dutchman’s own Anfield career remains just as secure - even as Reds bosses weigh up their options ahead of a potential attacking

reshuffle.
