STEVEN GERRARD IS REPORTEDLY ON THE VERGE OF RETURNING TO RANGERS AS MANAGER AND IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT FORMER LIVERPOOL TEAMMATE JORDAN HENDERSON WILL JOIN HIM 12:00, 21 May 2025

Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard will return to Glasgow as Rangers manager and will bring Premier League-winning captain Jordan Henderson as one of his assistants, according to reports. The

44-year-old has been out of the dugout since leaving Al-Ettifaq in January but has emerged as the frontrunner - it has been claimed. Gerrard ended Celtic's stranglehold at the top of

the Scottish Premiership in 2021, guiding them to a 55th championship. The Liverpool legend then grasped the opportunity to move to the Premier League to join Aston Villa, where he managed

an 11-month stint. Following his dismissal at Villa Park, the former Reds midfielder made the controversial move to Saudi Arabia, to take up a managerial position in the Saudi Pro League.

predicted Among his signings was the former Liverpool captain Henderson, who made the shock move to Dammam for £12million. The Sunderland academy graduate lasted a matter of months before

returning to Europe - where he signed for Ajax. His time in Amsterdam hasn't been entirely smooth sailing as he hit the headlines in the winter transfer window following interest from

AS Monaco, which sparked anger at the Johan Cruyff Arena. However, talkSPORT have claimed that he will now end his time in the Eredivisie, days after they lost the league on the final day of

the season to rivals PSV Eindhoven, to become Gerrard's assistant at Ibrox. Article continues below "Now we understand here this morning at talkSPORT that behind the scenes, the

managerial situation is moving at a pace," presenter Jim White said. "The interim manager Barry Ferguson will be leaving with thanks but back to the football club will come Steven

Gerrard, former manager of the club - the man who won them the Scottish Premier League title. "Alongside Gerrard, a hugely popular figure Steven Davis and alongside the two of them as

an assistant to Gerrard and Davis, Jordan Henderson. "He would also be an assistant in there as well." Danny Murphy, who shared a dressing room with Gerrard at Anfield, was

alongside the Scot on the show and offered his immediate reaction. "I'm not surprised because for Rangers it's kind of like an easy option," he began. "'When

did we last have success? Who brought it? Who was able to knock Celtic off their perch?' And it was Stevie wasn't it? "He knows the club, he wouldn't have spent too much

time finding his feet. "He knows the league because he was there for a few years, so I understand it. "I think the fans will be on board with it, the lack of experience around

him... he had Gary Mac (MacAllister) with him last time which was important for him. Article continues below "There's no guarantee for Rangers, whoever they appoint, they're

going to have to do some really big business in the transfer market because the squad is inept compared to Celtic's. "They haven't got the financial clout yet, the takeover

hasn't been completed by all accounts. It seems strange that the appointment has been made if they haven't got through the door and signed on the dotted line. "It does ring

true with American owners, we seen it at Birmingham with Wayne Rooney, they like big names."
