LIAM SMITH WAS BEATEN BY AARON MCKENNA LAST MONTH 17:05, 29 May 2025 Liam Smith has admitted he is unsure whether he will fight again following his defeat to Aaron McKenna last month. The
36-year-old was returning to the ring for the first time since he was stopped by Chris Eubank Jr at the AO Arena in Manchester in September 2023. Smith had been due to face Josh Kelly on the
undercard of Anthony Joshua’s huge heavyweight showdown against Daniel Dubois at Wembley back in September. However, a week before the fight was due to take place, he was forced to pull out
due to illness, with Kelly instead facing Ishmael Davis. But up against McKenna at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Smith was second best, and he was dropped in the final round on his way to
a points defeat. READ MORE: Callum Smith breaks silence on Anthony Yarde fight and confirms David Benavidez talksREAD MORE: Natasha Jonas provides retirement update as Liverpool prepares to

time out of the ring and I just couldn’t really get going in the fight. Nothing to do with anything else; I just couldn’t get going in the fight. “I couldn’t get my teeth into the fight and
before I knew it, it was over. I will have a sit down and a little think about what I do next myself and I’ll see what is what. Article continues below “I have had a good little rest. I
have been on holiday with my two little girls and I have been back in the gym, so I’ll see what happens. “If the phone goes and I get a fight by September, I’ll maybe take it, but if it goes
a long time out of the ring again, then I’ll be done.” Asked directly if he was offered the chance to fight Conor Benn, would he take it, Smith replied: “I don’t need to answer that, of
course I would, yeah.” Meanwhile, Frankie Stringer will make his long-awaited return to the ring when he takes on Kane Baker next month. Stringer, who is a former Rotunda ABC Tri Nations and
national champion, hasn’t fought since he moved to 9-0 in the professional ranks with a points win over Tatenda Mangombe at the Exhibition Centre in December. However, the 23-year-old, who
is managed by Liam Smith, will make his return to the ring against Baker at Barnsley’s Oakwell Stadium on Saturday, June 7. Stringer will fight on the undercard of Callum Simpson’s showdown
against Ivan Zucco for the European super-middleweight title. And while Stringer admits that on paper the fight against Baker looks like a big step up for him, it is a bout he believes he
will come through. “On paper it is a big step up, but the way I am performing in the gym, and I know my ability, it is not a step up,” he said. Article continues below “He’s a good
journeyman, if that makes sense? You box him when you want to start stepping up the levels and see what level you are at. “The way I am performing in the gym and my own ability, I am going
to get through Kane Baker and then hopefully I have another big one in September.”
