MERSEYSIDE POLICE ARE NOW INVESTIGATING AND PATROLS REMAIN IN THE AREA 17:15, 22 May 2025 Police were called out to a Merseyside primary school this afternoon (Thursday May 22) after
receiving reports that someone had emailed threats. Police are now investigating an incident of 'malicious communications' and have ramped up patrols in the area. At 2:30pm police
were called to St Leo’s & Southmead Catholic Primary on Lickers Lane in Whiston after threatening emails were sent to the school. Officers attended the scene and all staff and pupil are
reported as safe. A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that we are investigating an incident of malicious communications reported by St Leo’s and Southmead Primary
School this afternoon, Thursday 22 May. "At around 2.30pm today, we received a report that someone had emailed the Whiston school and made threats. Officers attended the school and all
children and staff were safe and well. "Patrols remain in the area to offer visible reassurance for parents and staff. Enquiries are also ongoing to identify the person responsible and
we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward." The incident is the latest in a series of recent threats made against promary schools in the area. Halsnead Primary
School is less than a ten minute walk from St Leo's and has been subject to several threats over the last two months. In March, the Liverpool ECHO reported that Halsnead primary had
received 'malicious communications'. Then in April, staff at Halsnead made the decision to close early after a "malicious email" was sent to the school. Anyone with
information should contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X @MerPolCC or on Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’. You can also report information via their website or call
