Turkish restaurant Antep Grill is on the site of a former bathroom business on the corner of Westcotes' Hinckley Road, about half way between Leicester city centre and Western Park. Its

timber clad exterior had made the building a bit of a landmark and a lot of people have probably driven past and thought to themselves, "I wonder if it's any good?" before thinking,

"but where would I park?"

Well the good news is that Antep is now on Deliveroo. And the other good news is that it's utterly brilliant. I ordered a big sack of food from there and there was nothing at all I

could even begin to complain about.

When the cyclist arrived with it, the house began filling with delicious barbecue grill smells before I'd even opened the bag. My cat started yelling at me, which never normally happens

with takeaway food.

My first instinct was to grab a handful of the tasty-looking chips and shove them in my mouth. On many occasions, chips brought to me by bicycle delivery are a bit disappointing but these

ones were perfect.

Not too crunchy, not too dry, nicely hot still and enhanced by the shallow puddle of lamb rib juice in the container with them. They could not have tasted any better.

The rib meal, for £16.50, came with a load of pitta bread, a big salad and some cooked veg including onions and peppers. Considering how much food there was, I didn't expect to have

much more than a bite of the bread on my first go at it, but it was great for mopping up the juices and all of the juices were delicious.

The ribs themselves were well cooked but not overdone, with a little blackness on the outside, moistness inside and a lot of flavour. After my first rib I tried a chicken wing and it was the

tastiest bit of chicken I'd ever had.

The £7.50 portion of chicken was the highlight of the meal. As well as being a generous helping of delicious, succulent chicken made with great seasoning, the meat and skin somehow held so

much of the flavour of the smoke it almost felt like I was eating it next to a bonfire. Even though I had plenty, I found myself biting each fibre of flesh off the bones, so as not to waste

a single scrap of it. Sorry cat.

For pudding I had a £5 portion of baklava. Baklava is easily one of the best desserts ever invented, so I'm not sure how much praise the chefs at Antep deserve for making a good one.

But they nailed it.

Along with a can of Coke for £2 and the usual Deliveroo fees, the whole lot came to £34.78. Overall, it was probably the best meal I've ever had biked to me. Antep Grill is a top

takeaway and, on some of the Google reviews, it seems to be a very nice place to go to eat in, as well.
