Cut-price lazio transfer won't help leicester city

Lazio remain interested in Leicester City centre-back Wout Faes and could strike a cut-price €10m (£8.4m) deal for the Belgian, reports in Italy say. First linked to Faes back in January,

Lazio are still keen on the defender, Il Messaggero report, especially with one of their current starting centre-backs, Mario Gila, attracting interest. And it’s now said Faes could now be

available for half the price he was in the winter following City’s relegation. Significant changes to the City squad are expected this summer and players will need to be sold to cope with

the sharp decrease in revenue in the Championship. Faes is a strong contender to leave, but at £8.4m, he would not be helping City’s financial health much, especially in terms of complying

with Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). After signing for £15m on a five-year contract from Reims in 2022, Faes will be valued in the books at around £6m, and so at the reported price

City would be making just £2.4m in PSR profit. City will hope to fetch far more than that for Faes, and will hope more widespread interest will drive up the price, with previously reported

admirers from Germany and Turkey. While Faes’ performances have been maligned by City fans at times, he has been the club’s most-selected centre-back this term. In the Premier League, he has

started 29 of 37 matches, and made four more substitute appearances, while in all competitions, only James Justin has played more minutes for the club this season. City are expected to

undergo a revamp at centre-back this summer, with Caleb Okoli and Jannik Vestergaard also linked away. Ben Nelson had been expected to come back into the fold and potentially start next
