Man punches store worker then flees with 'large quantity' of cash

A man threatened a member of staff in a Leicestershire store today before punching them and then fleeing with a "large quantity of cash", police said. Officers are appealing for

information about the incident, which happened in Loughborough this morning (Thursday, May 29). The incident, which is being treated as an aggravated burglary, happened at an unnamed store

in Jubilee Drive in the town, which is home to several large stores. Leicestershire Police said in an appeal this afternoon: "Detectives are carrying out an investigation after an

aggravated burglary at a business in Loughborough. "Police received a call at 6.44am this morning to a report that a member of staff was threatened by an unknown man demanding cash

during the incident but did not sustain any injuries. The suspect made off on foot with a large quantity of cash after the incident towards Belton Road. "Our investigation remains at an

early stage as enquiries are being carried out at the store and in the surrounding area. Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity relating to this incident is asked to contact

police on 101 quoting incident 125 of 29 May."
