Dozens of new camping pitches have been approved for a Leicestershire site to meet growing demand. The development is within touching distance of Stoney Cove and will expand the
"established" business in the area. Matthew Rowe's plan for 50 "dedicated gravel pitches" is double the number he had originally on site at Fortway Farm Leisure and
Fishery in Stoney Stanton. Mr Rowe's plan is one he said will expand the "established" camping and caravan business which is just two minutes' drive from Stoney Cove. A
new internal road on the site as well as the installation of a children's play area is also in the plan which was submitted to Blaby District Council (BDC). Plans also include an out of
season caravan storage area, and retrospective approval for the continued use of the toilet, shower and washing facilities within an existing building on site. READ MORE: Multiple
objections raised for Leicestershire village's new 38-home plan In his application, Mr Rowe said the site is used for a combination of leisure and tourism purposes, including
caravanning, camping and fishing. He said the need for 50 pitches would meet the increase in demand and provide dedicated pitches too. The new children’s play space will include a bike track
and play equipment, while there will also be dedicated nature reserve/wildlife spaces. The site, which also includes a fishing lake, employs two full time employees and a further part time
employee, which will be unchanged as part of the plans. Car parking will increase from 25 to 50 spaces. BDC approved the plans alongside 17 conditions, including the use being restricted to
a maximum of 50 camping pitches, and the caravan/motorhome pitches can only be used for holidays and not occupied as a person's sole or main place of residence. We are now bringing you
