Join us on WhatsAppA Leicestershire man has been sentenced to 100 hours of unpaid work for assaulting a woman and leaving her injured. Brett Mackness, of Blackthorn Road, in Glenfield, was handed the sentence
at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (May 14).
Court documents state that the assault took place in Leicester on Saturday, April 22, 2023. Mackness, 51, had denied a charge of causing actual bodily harm, but was found guilty by
magistrates following a trial in March.
At his sentencing, magistrates ordered Mackness to complete the unpaid work within 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £250 compensation to the victim of the assault.

The assault, which was prosecuted under section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, resulted in actual bodily harm being caused to the victim. The legislation covers assaults
causing injuries which are considered to be more serious than "minor".
The community order will last until May 2026, according to court documents.
