A burst sewer pipe has led to fears for wildlife in a Leicester park. As a result of the burst, sewage water has found its way into a pond in Braunstone Park. Leicester City Council said it

was contacted by Severn Trent on Wednesday night (May 28), asking for permission to close a footpath in the park whilst work was carried out on the pond. Severn Trent and the Midlands team

from the Environment Agency are currently still at the site of the pipe burst. People who live in the area have said they have seen fish in the park which seem to be struggling to breathe.

The Environment Agency said in a statement online that it was "monitoring water quality and aerating a lake to help fish in distress". READ MORE:Major 200-home and shops plan for
