A burst sewer pipe has led to fears for wildlife in a Leicester park. As a result of the burst, sewage water has found its way into a pond in Braunstone Park. Leicester City Council said it
was contacted by Severn Trent on Wednesday night (May 28), asking for permission to close a footpath in the park whilst work was carried out on the pond. Severn Trent and the Midlands team
from the Environment Agency are currently still at the site of the pipe burst. People who live in the area have said they have seen fish in the park which seem to be struggling to breathe.

weekend following a burst pipe earlier in the week. We're working around the clock to repair the pipe and have already put in place measures to protect the environment. "We’ll keep
working closely with the Environment Agency to resolve the situation as quickly and safely as possible." We have asked Severn Trent for details of the "measures" it has put
in place. The Environment Agency said in its statement: "Our teams are continuing to work in the Braunstone area of Leicester where a sewer has burst. We are monitoring water quality
and aerating a lake to help fish in distress." The agency has asked people around the area to be alert and to call it if they saw any possible environmental impacts from the sewage. The
