Corrie's ryan thomas issues family admission as he prepares for soap return

Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas has shared an insight into his family's reaction to his upcoming return to the famous ITV soap, admitting that they "don't understand

it". Joining the Corrie cast in 2000, when he was just 16 years old, Ryan quickly established himself as a fan favourite, playing Eileen Grimshaw's eldest son. His character is

well-known for a string of failed relationships with a whole host of iconic co-stars, including; Rosie Webster, Maria Connor, and Sarah Platt – played by Tina O'Brien, who is the mum to

one of his children. Beyond his hectic love life, Ryan's role was also defined by his bond with on-screen mother Eileen, played by Sue Cleaver, who is set to leave the soap later this

year. Despite a successful 16-year tenure, Ryan ultimately left the cobblestones behind in 2016, seeking new career prospects. Fast forward to today, after nearly a decade away, the now

40-year-old actor is set to make a much-anticipated comeback this month. Weatherfield residents will be left stunned as Jason makes his way to the Rovers Return pub after spending the last

16 years living in Thailand. With the big reveal scheduled for later this month, Ryan recently opened up about his family's reaction to his Coronation Street resurgence admitting his

kids are not expected to tune in for his on-screen homecoming. He shared with Inside Soap: "Even if my children don't understand it now, there will come a time when we sit down and

show them. Corrie will always be a reminder of who I am and where I came from." Discussing his return to the soap, he added: "I have no regrets. It's been the perfect

storyline and a real memory I can cherish. It felt like the old days." Jason's comeback to Coronation Street occurs during a challenging period for the Grimshaw family following

the death of his aunty, Julie Carp, after a lengthy battle with cancer. In a recent chat on Loose Women, Sue reflected on her time in the soap: "I've had 25 privileged years of

working on Coronation Street." She continued: "The door is still firmly open but as I reached my 60th year, I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and

live fearlessly." Sue had taken a sabbatical from the cobbles to star in Sister Act The Musical and later participated in I'm A Celeb in 2022. Catch the latest episode of
