A 21-year-old Oxnard man was listed in critical condition Friday after being shot at least five times the night before on a street in south Oxnard. Gary Cabral was in surgery most of the
morning at St. John’s Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said. Cabral was shot in the back and torso at least five times about 8:30 p.m. in the 3100 block of Saviers Road, said
Oxnard police spokesman David Keith. Cabral managed to get into his car and drive about a block before crashing into a tree on South A Street, Keith said. Police had few details on what
prompted the shooting, but said it appears to be gang-related. Detectives collected shell casings Friday morning but had difficulty locating cooperative witnesses. “We know there are people
