Los Angeles residents’ fascination with movies and television extends to VCRs, according to a study in May by A. C. Nielsen Co. The metropolitan area has the third-highest percentage of


television-owning households with VCRs in the nation--62.2%, the study said. Only snowy Anchorage (70.6%) and night owl Las Vegas (63.3%) households are more likely to own a VCR. But Allan


Schlosser, spokesman for the Washington-based Electronics Industries Assn., cautioned that such numbers are “at best an inexact science.” Difficulties remain in determining how many are
