Officials have shifted 23 female inmates from a Darul Uloom at Raj Bagh here to government orphanage at Nishat. The inmates are from Machil area of Kupwara and were putting up at the
seminary housed in a building at Raj Bagh. Acting on complaints of lack of proper facilities at the seminary, management of Masjid Owaisiya had taken up the matter with officials. The local
masjid Intizamia in a letter to officials alleged that inmates of the Darul Uloom were seen “begging and collecting money” for the seminary during the holy month of Ramadhan. The letter
alleged that the “the Darul Uloom is run by a person without rules and regulations. We want closure of the Darul Uloom.” Acting on the complaint, the officials shifted the inmates to
orphanage run by Social Welfare Department at Nishat here.
