Press release OVERNIGHT WORK ON A49 IN HEREFORD The Highways Agency is to carry out a package of work on the A49 Victoria Street in Hereford from Monday 12 May for two weeks. The work
between the junctions of Barton Road and Edgar Street includes resurfacing both carriageways, upgrading the signalled crossing at Barton Road, replacing road markings, studs and traffic
detection loops, relocating and replacing lit bollards and installing tactile paving on the footpath. The work will be carried out overnight, from 10.15pm to 6.30am in three phases. The
first which starts on Monday will require an overnight closure of the northbound carriageway, the second an overnight closure of the southbound and the third will require temporary access
restrictions to Barton Road and St Nicholas Street. The start dates for the second and third phases will be advertised in advance. The work will be co-ordinated with Herefordshire Council’s
work in Barton Road and St Nicholas Street to reduce disruption. During the closures of the A49 Victoria Street traffic will be diverted along Barton road, Westfaling Street, the A4110 and
A4103 Roman Road, or vice versa. GENERAL ENQUIRIES Members of the public should contact the Highways Agency Information Line on 0300 123 5000 MEDIA ENQUIRIES Journalists should contact the
