Surrey's newest water play park is set to open for the entire summer and just time time for the May half term. Elmbridge Borough Council has announced the splash pad in Churchfields

recreation ground in Weybridge will open for the summer before the end of the month. There will be a special preview event on Thursday, May 22, where the Mayor of Elmbridge will cut the

opening ribbon at 1.30pm, with all invited to enjoy the pad's water features and also get some free goodies at the event which will end at 5pm. This event will be some what of a taster

ahead of the full opening on Saturday, May 24. The splash pad will then be open until September 2; during this time the free-to-use water park will be open from 10am to 6pm Monday to

Saturday, closing at 5pm on Sundays. Work began at the site in October 2024, and from the start, the splash pad had a specific focus on being eco-friendly. The design uses solar panels to

power recirculating water shower and sprinklers, which, in turn allows the splash pad to be efficient in terms of water and energy usage. A spokesperson for Elmbridge Borough Council said:

"The new splash pad has an exciting selection of fun and innovative water features. What sets it apart is its commitment to environmental sustainability. The equipment has been

developed to conserve water and minimise environmental impact, making it as eco-friendly as possible." Churchfields Recreation Ground already has a number of features fit to make a full

family day-trip, including a play area, four tennis courts, two table tennis tables and a place to skateboard and play basketball. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION * PREVIEW OPENING EVENT: Thursday,

May 22 from 1pm until 5pm * FULL OPENING: Saturday, May 24 until September 2 * OPENING TIMES: Monday to Saturday - 10am to 6pm, Sunday - 10am to 5pm * LOCATION: Churchfields recreation

ground, Churchfield Road, Weybridge KT13 8DB
