Map shows how much rent has increased in every surrey area

Rent prices have increased by over £100 a month on average across swathes of Surrey over the last year. It cost an average of £1,479 a month to rent a home privately in Waverley in the year

to April 2025. That’s a hike of 10.5 per cent compared to a year earlier, and works out at an extra £140 a month, according to the latest figures from the Land Registry. It’s the largest

year-on-year increase in Surrey, and is more than three times the current rate of inflation (3.5 per cent). Mole Valley has seen the next largest increases in the average private rental

price in Surrey. It cost £1,518 a month to rent a home privately in the local authority area in the year to April. That’s 9.5 per cent more than a year earlier, equivalent to an extra £132 a

month. In Elmbridge rents are up by £112 (6.3 per cent), in Spelthorne by £109 (7.3 per cent) and in Reigate and Banstead by £102 (6.9 per cent). Much like in Surrey, the cost of renting

privately is rising across the UK as a whole. It cost an average of £1,335 a month to rent a home privately in the UK in the year to April 2025. That’s up by £92 compared to a year earlier,

an increase of 7.4 per cent. However, rent prices are increasing far faster in some parts of the country than in others. The London borough of Camden has seen the largest monetary increase

in the cost of renting privately. The average rent in the area is now £2,836 a month. That’s £333 more than it was a year ago. In Kensington and Chelsea rents have increased by £312 a month.

In Westminster they’re up by £304, in Hammersmith and Fulham by £279 and in Broxbourne by £248. Newport in Wales has seen the largest relative increase in private rents, however. YOU CAN

average rent stands at £918 a month, which is £155 more than in April 2024. In Broxbourne, average rents are up by 18 per cent. In Melton they’re up by 15 per cent, in Slough by 15 per cent
