Doug Cockle, the voice behind Geralt in the Witcher video games and Netflix's latest title, has assured fans they 'will love' the new film despite some dubbing the last

spin-off as 'abysmal'. Cockle has lent his distinctive voice to the iconic character for two decades, including in the hugely popular game Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. He is now reprising

one of his most well-known roles for Netflix in a new animated feature titled Sirens of the Deep. The streaming giant has previously produced a live-action series with Henry Cavill playing

the lead role. However, after Cavill left following three seasons, he was replaced by Liam Hemsworth. This led the filmmakers to turn to Cockle to portray the character that the seasoned

actor admits is 'part of' him. Both the live-action Netflix adaptation and the games are based on the original books penned by Polish author Andrezj Sapkowski. Sirens of the Deep

is actually adapted from one of his original short stories. Despite this, Netflix has created spin-offs beyond the source material. These include Nightmare of the Wolf, an animated feature

focusing on Geralt's mentor Vesimir, and Blood Origin, a live-action series set 1,200 years before the main story events. They were met with mixed reviews, reports the Mirror US. While

Nightmare of the Wolf scored a perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Blood Origin was critically panned. Released in 2022, one viewer bluntly stated of the Michelle Yeoh starring show:

"Just terrible, don't waste your time" and another expressing disappointment over changes to the lore: "Abysmal. Another bad idea from showrunners to change origins of

how Witchers are made." Now, in an exclusive interview with Reach's Screen Time team, voice actor Doug Cockle, shared his optimism about the new film. He enthused: "I think

fans are gonna love it. I think the people who read the books or played the games and saw the TV show or even just one of those things, I think they're going to come to this one and it

will stand on its own and I think it's great. So I think people who are fans of The Witcher Universe are going to be very happy with this. I certainly am. I think it's

fantastic." Cockle's casting has been well-received by fans, and while he is anticipated to have a role in the upcoming game by CD Projekt Red, his future with Netflix's

Witcher properties is uncertain. Speaking frankly about his character, he said: "With Geralt, it's not really up to me, you know. It's up to other people and the projects they

decide to take on." He also expressed his passion for the role: "I hope that people continue to make Witcher related shows that Geralt is in that I can perform because I love

performing him so much. The guy is a part of me. I just want to keep performing Geralt as long as I can." _THE WITCHER: SIRENS OF THE DEEP IS STREAMING ON NETFLIX._
