One of the biggest shows of your childhood is coming to netflix

After a period of uncertainty, Sesame Street has secured a new broadcasting partnership with Netflix. The streaming giant has struck a deal with Sesame Workshop to stream fresh episodes of

the iconic children's show, following Warner Bros. Discovery's decision not to renew its output on HBO and Max. In the new deal, upcoming episodes of the beloved series will

simultaneously debut on Netflix and American channel PBS, reaching global audiences at the same time. Announcing the news on Monday (May 19), Sesame Workshop said: "We are excited to

announce that all new Sesame Street episodes are coming to Netflix worldwide along with library episodes, and new episodes will also release the same day on PBS Stations and PBS Kids

platforms in the U.S., preserving a 50+ year relationship." The statement continues, adding: "The support of Netflix, PBS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting serve as a

unique public-private partnership to enable Sesame Street to continue to help children everywhere grow smarter, stronger, and kinder." To mark the major move, Netflix will debut the

56th season with a fresh format. Firstly, each episode will now focus on one 11-minute storyline, which allows for more character-centred stories. Additionally, beloved segments Elmo’s World

and Cookie Monster’s Foodie Truck will be making a return. What's more, viewers can also expect "new ways to play along as Cookie Monster opens his very own Cookie Cart on Sesame

Street," according to Sesame Workshop's announcement. Other changes include a new animated segment called Tales from 123_, _which_ _"takes viewers inside the most famous

apartment building in the world where they can discover the wacky and whimsical building that Elmo, Cookie Monster, and friends call home." Fans will also be treated with

"to-camera moments," in which "the characters speak directly to the viewers and invite them into the action—capturing emotions and interactions." Sesame Street first hit

screens in 1969 and has been a mainstay for generations of children since. In 2016, Warner Bros. Discovery began airing the iconic show on HBO, but announced in 2024 that it would not be

renewed. Fans were growing concerned about the future of the 55-year-old series, but Netflix has quelled their fears. SESAME STREET WILL STREAM ON NETFLIX LATER THIS YEAR.
