A farmer has pointed out something peculiar about the latest series of Clarkson's Farm, noting a prevailing atmosphere of "grim resignation". In a recent article discussing
the return of the popular Amazon Prime series, hosted by former Grand Tour presenter Jeremy Clarkson, Jamie Blackett, a farmer, writer, and ex-leader of the All for Unity party, shared his
thoughts on the show's representation of the agricultural sector. The fourth season of Clarkson's Farm premiered last Friday (May 23rd), with Jeremy parting ways with fan favourite
Kaleb Cooper, who has embarked on a tour, and introducing new team member Harriet Cowan. In the latest season, Jeremy takes on the challenge of managing Diddly Squat Farm solo, with Harriet
joining as a freelance replacement for Kaleb. Meanwhile, Jamie, who praised the show's portrayal of the sector as "bang on", also highlighted something he found unusual.
Writing in the Telegraph, Jamie observed: "It seems strange in droughtridden 2025 to be watching Clarkson and his team squelching through 2024 with hunched shoulders as the ceaseless
rain falls on west Oxfordshire. The mood is one of grim resignation at Diddly Squat Farm." The previous year saw farmers struggling with record-breaking rainfall, which resulted in
flooded fields and significant impacts on crops and livestock, according to the Guardian. The Met Office noted at the time that England had experienced a record-breaking 18-month period of
rainfall (ending in March 2024). In stark contrast, 2025 has seen the driest start to the spring in a whopping 69 years, leading to failing crops and the Environment Agency suggesting that
people ration water as firms ready themselves for potential drought over the summer months. David Exwood, NFU's deputy president, voiced his concerns this month saying: "The dry
conditions and lack of any substantial rainfall has meant farmers in some parts of the country have started to irrigate crops much earlier than normal. "The extreme weather patterns we
have experienced over the past few years are impacting our ability to feed the nation." On another note, newcomer Harriet is quickly becoming a fan favourite. One viewer exclaimed:
"A 'Star' is born Harriet Cowen!" Another expressed their admiration: "S4 and I already love Harriet." Further praise came with predictions about her bright
future, with a third person commenting that Harriet could become "massively famous" and "could be worth bringing back". A fourth shared their early support, mentioning
they're "already rooting" for the fresh face on screen. Harriet, a nurse by profession and raised on a family farm, would lend a hand to her father, Eddy, with the land and
animals. Despite confessing she hadn't watched the show before, she was recruited by contractor Charlie Ireland. Kaleb Cooper, another familiar face, addressed exit rumours and
confirmed his continued participation in the show during an appearance on ITV's This Morning. To Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, he clarified: "I'm still involved, yeah.
There's lots of rumours going out that I've been replaced, but I'm still here."
