Dr Michael Mosley's widow has shared a heartfelt account of her final moments with the beloved TV doctor, expressing her deep grief in the first interview since her husband's
unexpected passing. Michael tragically passed away during a holiday on the Greek island of Symi in June last year. The 67-year-old disappeared after going for a walk, and his body was found
days later following extensive search efforts. Dr Clare Bailey Mosley has now recounted the events of that fateful day when they arrived on Symi by ferry on June 4 to stay with friends at
their villa. The couple had only been there 'half a day' when Michael 'got bored' and decided to go off exploring. He wasn't enjoying the book he was reading, and
wasn't interested in spending time on the beach. So, Clare gave him a bottle of water, and he left at 1.30 pm. "It was just an ordinary exchange of words as he went off for his
walk," Clare told MailOnline. "Very banal. I don’t think there was even a kiss." While Michael took a walk, Clare and her friend enjoyed the afternoon at the beach. When they
returned home, they grew worried because her husband had not come back. Feeling unnerved, they reported this to the police but were informed that nothing could be done until 48 hours had
passed. "I had to push really hard, but finally they agreed to get a local search-and-rescue team out," she added, according to the Mirror. On June 9, Michael's body was
discovered. In December last year, a coroner reached an open conclusion regarding the circumstances of Michael’s passing. Crispin Butler, the senior coroner for Buckinghamshire, concluded
that Michael's death remained 'indeterminate' but was possibly due to heatstroke or an unidentified pathological reason. In written findings, Mr Butler said the doctor's
death was not found to be a result of homicide, suicide, or an accident related to injuries. He wrote: "No medical cause of death could be ascertained, meaning Michael's death may
have been due to a medical event or as a result of a non-traumatic accident." To honour Michael's death, his family have now set up a research fund in his name. The new clinical
research fellowship will be established in partnership with King’s College London and the Chronic Disease Research Foundation (CDRF) to help improve the nation’s metabolic health. In a
separate interview, Clare said: "Michael was most proud of the work that he did in helping people to improve their metabolic health. It is increasingly clear that improving metabolic
health decreases your risk of multiple chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes, reducing blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, dementia, cancer and more. "The Mosley family are
thrilled that this fellowship will continue in his name to improve so many people’s lives." Professor Tim Spector, medical director of the CDRF and professor of genetic epidemiology at
King’s College London, also added: "Michael was a dear friend and we shared a passion for sharing knowledge to help people lead healthier, happier lives for longer. "The funds
raised for the fellow will embody his spirit, translating cutting-edge metabolic research from the lab to hospital wards, directly benefiting patients." THE MICHAEL MOSLEY FUND CAN BE
