Woman arrested after contaminated heroin warning issued by police

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a Class A drug. It comes after a public health warning was issued on Thursday, May 29, regarding a potentially

contaminated batch of heroin circulating in Hartlepool. The town's criminal investigation department has arrested a 41-year-old woman. Cleveland Police said on Friday afternoon that she

is currently in police custody being questioned. In a warning issued on Thursday, a spokesperson for the force said: "A number of people have received treatment after taking what

police and public health colleagues believe could be contaminated heroin. "While we would not advocate the use of illegal drugs, we would warn drug users that this particular batch

circulating in Hartlepool could be dangerous. If you are a drug user, or know someone who is struggling with addiction, please make sure you’re aware of the heightened risk this batch

poses." The force is working with public health colleagues and other partner agencies as they investigate these incidents. The spokesperson added: "Anyone who experiences

unexpected or severe side effects from any drug use should seek immediate medical attention. "If you have any information which could assist our enquiries, please contact Cleveland
