A former GP surgery has been transformed into hi-tech supported living homes where people with additional needs can "live their best lives". Owl View is equipped with smart
technology such as fall sensors and door opening systems. The service, which is part of social care charity Community Integrated Care, will support nine adults with a range of support needs
including learning disabilities and mental health conditions, to live independently in their own homes. The building in Skelton has been renovated by Riverside Homes, into individual
apartments. The transformation of the building was made possible through a partnership between Redcar and Cleveland Council, Inclusion Housing, Riversdale Homes and Community Integrated
Care. The opening was officially marked with a special community event on Thursday, May 15 attended by local MP Luke Meyer. Six people who have already moved in welcomed family, friends and
members of the community to celebrate their new homes with an official ribbon cutting and afternoon tea. Jennifer Haynes, head of operations for Community Integrated Care, said: “It was
fantastic to attend the launch of Owl View and see how the building has been transformed into an incredible home for local people. The day was really joyful and centred around the people we
support, who were so proud to showcase their new homes to friends, family and the wider community. "It was also inspiring to see the community come together - from our partners and
colleagues, to families and neighbours - and we were really grateful to welcome our local MP, Luke Myer, to join us in officially opening the service. Owl View is so much more than just a
place to live it's a space where people will be empowered to live their best lives, with personalised support that enables them to thrive. "We’re excited to see the people we
support flourish in their new homes.” Cllr Lisa Robson, cabinet member for adults at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: “It’s truly heart warming to see the transformation of this
building into such a vibrant and supportive place that people can proudly call home. "Owl View centre is a brilliant example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships and
shared commitment to empowering individuals to live independently. This service will make a real difference in the lives of the people it supports, and I’m delighted that we as a council
could play a part in making it happen." JOIN TEESSIDE LIVE'S WHATSAPP COMMUNITY FOR TOP STORIES AND BREAKING NEWS SENT DIRECTLY TO YOUR PHONE Teesside Live is now on WhatsApp and
