Stockton's district commander has called a wave of serious crime incidents "deeply shocking" as he says further arrests will be made. Investigations are ongoing into several
incidents, some of which were reportedly "petrol bomb" attacks, in a number of streets across Stockton on Sunday and Monday nights (June 1 and 2). Gun shots were also reportedly
fired at a house in Howard Place, in the Tilery area, late on Sunday night. Two further incidents which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, June 4, are also under investigation,
including a report of a weapon being fired at an address in Alder Road. Police officers have not ruled out links to the other serious crime reported in the area. Now Superintendent John
Wrintmore, District Commander for Stockton, has provided reassurance to the community as he says more arrests will follow following a series of 'targeted' attacks. So far a total
of seven people have been arrested in connection with the incidents - with a further two arrests made following Wednesday night's incidents. Superintendent Wrintmore said: "I
don't doubt that many of you are going to be aware of some of the serious crime incidents that we've seen over the last few days across Stockton. They are deeply shocking and I
know that is going to cause some concern across our communities." Adding: "We've got a really robust investigation under way and that includes over seven arrests within the
last few days, and more arrests will follow. I'm absolutely confident that people will be brought to justice for what has been occurring." Investigating officers arrested a
17-year-old boy on suspicion of arson with intent and possession of a firearm. He remained in police custody on Wednesday evening. A 38-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of
assisting an offender and she was bailed pending further enquiries. A second woman, aged 28, was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson and she was bailed with conditions. Four
people previously arrested on suspicion of arson with intent - three men aged 28 and a 15-year-old boy - have been bailed with conditions. Officers will remain in the local area conducting
high visibility reassurance patrols as extensive enquiries continue, the force has said. Following the incidents in the early hours of Wednesday, a man and a woman have been arrested after
an armed police operation in Bishopton Road. Cleveland Police was called to a report of a weapon fired at an address in Alder Road, in Primrose Hill, at 12.30am on Wednesday, June 5. A
further report followed four hours later of a person in neighbouring Northbourne Road with a weapon. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said on Wedesday evening: "The 32-year-old man
and 33-year-old woman were arrested at around 4pm at an address on Bishopton Road, both on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Both are
currently in police custody where they will be questioned by detectives." For a full timeline on other incidents click here. For updates and pictures on the Stockton attacks click here.
