Injury details after escaped dogs attack people in street

A woman need stitches to a bite wound on her thigh after three escaped German Shepherds attacked people in a Hartlepool street. An investigation is ongoing after four people were injured

after three dogs escaped from a property on Sheriff Street, in Hartlepool. People were bitten in the street during the incident on Sunday afternoon (June 1) and armed officers were called

shortly before 2pm. In a police update on Monday, June 2, officers have confirmed that a 22-year-old woman sustained a bite wound to her thigh in the incident which required stitches. A

35-year-old man sustained a bite wound to his calf. Both attended hospital for treatment. Two others - a 35-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy - suffered minor injuries in the attacks and

were treated by paramedics at the scene. It was confirmed on Sunday afternoon that all three of the dogs have been seized and removed by officers. The force confirmed, following speculation

on social media, that all of the dogs were recovered and were not killed during the incident. The three German Shepherds have been taken to different locations while enquiries continue. The

North East Ambulance Service confirmed previously that one person was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees in an ambulance while three others were treated on scene before making

their own way to hospital. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Enquiries are continuing following an incident on Sunday June 1 on Sheriff Street, Hartlepool, where three dogs

escaped from a property and went on to bite people in the street. "Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 101 quoting reference 98951." In the aftermath of the attack,

Cleveland Police asked that people to stay away from the area and remain indoors with their doors closed. Photographs from the scene show a cordon was erected in Sheriff Street near the
