FARMERS in East Anglia are being invited to take part in a MAFF trial to test if IACS forms can be successfully submitted by e-mail.
Cambridge regional service centre is writing to farmers asking them if they are prepared to take part in the pilot scheme. The aim is to sign up at least 200 producers.
Until recently the need for a signature has prevented IACS forms from being sent electronically.
A MAFF spokesman said farmers were already showing interest in the trial, which, if successful, could be extended nationwide next year.
The move fitted well with the governments drive to cut red tape and paperwork for farmers, he said. "We think it will prove very popular." *
