Last week the NITI Aayog held a two-day long international summit in Delhi called Move – Global Mobility Summit where experts, industry representatives and government officials from across

the globe discussed the future of mobility.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted seven Cs of India’s mobility initiative; common, connected, convenient, congestion free, charged, clean and cutting edge.

Fortune India caught up with NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant on the sidelines of the summit to talk about the strategy ahead for India in terms of reimagining mobility.

Kant talked about the “One Nation One Card” initiative which is aimed at making end-to-end travel for citizens seamless and convenient and when it can be expected to be rolled out.

He also talked about what the government will focus on going forward in its attempts to change the way people commute and travel; making roads more pedestrian and cycle-friendly, reducing

emissions and encouraging e-mobility.

At the summit, NITI Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar suggested that India target the year 2047 for its integrated transport policy which focusses on the above goals. Kant spoke about how the

target can be achieved and the next steps in India’s journey to the future of mobility.
