Conor McGregor is reportedly in danger of losing his eagerly-anticipated fight with UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov to former interim 155lbs titleholder Tony Ferguson.
That's according to MMA Team Dagestan, who on Wednesday night tweeted: "The fight that hid four times very soon can be reassigned for the fifth time. The thing is that @TheNotoriousMMA does
not sign a contract.
“If this does not happen then the UFC officially announced @TeamKhabib vs. @TonyFergusonXT.”
I think it's the normal evolution of a guy from his early 20s, approaching 30
Game of Thrones star Hafthor Bjornsson has jokingly challenged McGregor to a rematch of the light sparring session they had a few years back.
Bjornsson, who plays ‘The Mountain’ in the hit TV show, told Off The Ball: “Bring me some shorts and put us in a cage, I'll fight again.
“I had him a few times, but I just didn't want to break him. I was like, ‘F**k this, I'm not going to run after this small guy!'
"He's running around, you know? I don't have cardio for running around after small guys."
McGregor's head coach John Kavanagh has defended the 'The Notorious' over his 20-month hiatus from the Octagon.
"Just to state facts, the last two years he hasn’t fought regularly,” Kavanagh told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “The Eddie fight till now, what’s that, two years? So we’re over a year-and-a-half
past that and there’s been one fight, a boxing fight.
“But I think that’s kind of normal considering what was happening with his rise of stardom and him utilising that position to secure himself.

“Now if you go from the Eddie fight and go back seven years, from that moment, he was incredibly busy. He was doing a lot of fights.
“Even before his UFC career, he had a lot of fighters on the local promotions in Europe. And as soon as he got in the UFC, he really rattled them up together quite quickly - as compared to
other champions.
“So I think it's the normal evolution of a guy from his early 20s, approaching 30.”
McGregor, 30, hasn't graced the Octagon since his historic UFC 205 victory over Eddie Alvarez, a triumph which saw him become the promotion's first simultaneous two-weight world champion.
He was relieved of the 155lbs title in April, which paved the way for Nurmagomedov to claim the belt in the main event of UFC 223.
