Former UFC star, Mike Perry, has been slapped with a two-month medical suspension despite coming out on top in his latest bare-knuckle boxing match within 60 seconds. Having fought 15 times
for the UFC, Perry has made a name for himself in the world of bare-knuckle boxing since moving away from the promotion.
The 32-year-old took down MMA veteran Thiago Alves swiftly at the BKFC KnuckleMania 4 event last weekend, leading to the fight being called off after Alves succumbed to a left hook. Due to a
cut on the left side of his cheek received during his rapid victory, the California State Athletic Commission has handed Perry a suspension.
This could put him out of action for a duration of two months unless he receives a green light to participate from a doctor. Alves, who previously held the title of bare-knuckle champion,
was coaxed out of retirement for the showdown but has now chosen to rehang his gloves once again.
"I'm going back to retirement," he declared. "I pretty much was already retired, but didn't make an announcement because I wanted to do one more and this was it.
"Unfortunately it didn't go my way, but I've been fighting professionally since I was 15 years old. I took this fight on eight weeks notice and I lost my mother on April 5. I've been through
a lot and I put my family through a lot already."
Former UFC welterweight contender Gilbert "Durinho" Alves has opened up about his new career as a striking coach at the American Top Team gym in Florida. Despite earning a disclosed pay of
$200,000 for his loss to Perry, who earned $600,000, Alves is content with his decision to transition to coaching.

"I'm happy being a coach, living the life that I live, but I got no regrets," Alves said. "Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to go out on top when you're competing at this level, but I'm
happy with the man I see in the mirror. And on to the next one, right?"
Perry, who defeated Alves, wants to defend his BKFC belt against Darren Till next. "I have a reason why I called out Till, he sits over there talking unforgivable s***," Perry said. "It's a
fight that needs to happen, all of these people talk trash and don't last long in the ring with me period. I fought at 185lb, light-heavyweight in boxing class, so if they want to offer me
the BKFC title because none of the champions move the needle, I'll fight for that against a champion who has respectable morals."
