Federer cruised into the Swiss Indoors final with a straight-sets win over Daniil Medvedev this afternoon. He will now face Marius Copil in the final on Sunday after the Romanian caused a
major upset against Alexander Zverev in his semi-final. It will be the first meeting between Copil and Federer on the circuit, with the 37-year-old the overwhelming favourite. Playing in
front of his home crowd, Federer will be aiming to move one step closer to a huge milestone. Victory in Basel would hand Federer his 99th ATP Tour title and ninth at the Swiss Indoors. And
the 20-time Grand Slam champion is looking forward to the possibility of moving one step closer to Jimmy Connors’ record of 109 ATP Tour titles. “Hopefully I can deliver the same performance
tomorrow,” Federer said. “I think Medvedev had a bit tired legs. “I‘m sure he could have challenged me more. “Maybe I get my number 99 tomorrow, this would be insane.” Federer has struggled
of late, suffering a shock defeat in the Shanghai Masters final at the hands of Borna Coric. His last title on the tour came at the Stuttgart Open in June - the same man he lost to in the
Halle Open final. The world No 3 has already committed to playing at the Paris Masters next week, with Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic also set to feature. All three tennis stars have been
handed a bye for the first round but Djokovic and Federer could meet early on after being drawn on the same half of the tournament.
