Erik ten Hag has claimed he's in constant talks with the Manchester United hierarchy after the weekend's loss to Tottenham. Bruno Fernandes saw red against Spurs in a 3-0 defeat
before successfully appealing his three-game ban . Dutch boss Ten Hag has been under intense pressure with the side struggling for form this season. The once-dominant force of English
football have secured a mere two victories out of six Premier League games, including a draw against Crystal Palace and defeats to Brighton, rivals Liverpool and, most recently, Spurs.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his current state of mind amidst this poor streak, Ten Hag insists he's not "anxious" about the upcoming clashes with Porto and Aston Villa ahead
of the October international break. Quizzed over his future, with rumours suggesting he only has the Porto and Villa matches left to save his job, Ten Hag said: "I'm not thinking
about it. I'm not anxious as well, and we are in here together, we made [plans] in the summer, togetherness, the ownership, the leadership, this agreement, and we are all behind it.
"We knew, also, what the strategy was with young players in the transition period and we know then also in which process they can come, this can happen but they also know in the end
when we are in May, all my last six seasons, there were trophies and that is why we are also now aiming for." A 1-1 draw with FC Twente at Old Trafford in the Europa League last week
has further quelled the enthusiasm of United fans for their European ambitions this year, and the upcoming fixtures do not look promising for Ten Hag's side. Facing a challenging away
match against Porto on Thursday, United must secure all three points to satisfy their supporters and climb from their current 20th position in the Europa League table. Failure to win could
see Ten Hag's team potentially fall out of the play-off round section and fall to near the bottom of the table. In the Premier League, a loss to Aston Villa away from home on Sunday
could push them even further down the table towards the relegation zone, especially as West Ham and Leicester City have seemingly easier matches against Ipswich Town and Bournemouth
respectively this weekend. If the teams beneath them snatch all three points and United stumble again, they could find themselves potentially in 15th place for the two-week break – a
position that could well leave Ten Hag's role in jeopardy. Ten Hag has previously faced criticism during his tenure at United, following poor performances both domestically and in
Europe. But many now feel that this could be the last straw for new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
