Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz has shared his team's thoughts on the upcoming Liverpool vs Manchester City match after their victory over Brentford - and admits it played on their minds
against the Bees. Havertz scored the winning goal against Brentford, saving the day after Yoane Wissa took advantage of a mistake by Aaron Ramsdale to cancel out Declan Rice's opening
header. Despite securing three important points against the Bees, Arsenal didn't show the same scoring prowess they've displayed in recent weeks. In their previous match against
Sheffield United, five different players scored, along with an own goal, leading to a resounding 6-0 victory. This win brought Arsenal's total goals in the last seven league games to
31. An eighth consecutive Premier League win pushed Arsenal up to 64 points in the table, surpassing both Man City and Liverpool for at least 24 hours. Havertz, who also scored the winning
goal in the reverse fixture at the Gtech Community Stadium, added another late header to his season tally, bringing it to eight goals. A draw between City and Liverpool would keep Arsenal at
the top and Havertz admits he and his team-mates have been thinking about the contest at Anfield on Sunday. "Yeah obviously it's always nice to have three points in the bag,"
Havertz admitted to Sky Sports when asked about the Liverpool vs Man City match. "We've thought a lot about that in the dressing room before the match but of course we tried to
focus on ourselves during the match because we can't change what the other teams are doing. The Arsenal forward added: "Today was huge for us and we'll go into the next
competition during the week and we'll look forward to that one." While title implications could be huge for Arsenal in Sunday's clash, the focus within the Gunners'
set-up will undoubtedly be on overturning their Champions League last-16 first leg defeat to Porto, despite a possible injury concern over Gabriel Martinelli. The Brazil international was
withdrawn during the win over Sheffield United before then missing Saturday's London derby. After the win, Martinelli was spotted on crutches, sparking concerns he is out for longer
than first feared.
