Cristiano Ronaldo has enjoyed a fine season at Juventus but, long before his time in Turin, the 34-year-old was once a Manchester United star. He arrived at Old Trafford at the age of 18 to

replace David Beckham and struggled during his first three years at the club, despite his obvious potential. But a row with Wayne Rooney at the 2006 World Cup proved to be a turning point

with the Portugal international then firing Manchester United to three Premier League triumphs in the time since. Lingard was a youngster at the club when Ronaldo gave him a training

session. And the England international, now 26, has admitted he would love United to secure a return for the forward. "I would love [Manchester United] to sign [Cristiano] Ronaldo,”

Lingard told the Daily Mirror. “He has been one of the best players in the world over the last decade. "He has been here before so he would slot right back in. "Growing up he was

just unbelievable to watch in a United shirt, so on a personal note it would be amazing to play with him." Ronaldo was linked with a move to United back in the summer when he chose to

leave Real Madrid. He eventually joined Juventus, however, with Jose Mourinho reluctant to secure a reunion with his compatriot. Long before that, though, Ronaldo refused to rule out an Old

Trafford return saying: “I was 18-years-old, I win everything there. “The people treat me like a god there so I appreciate it and in the future nobody knows. “Some players I am still in

contact with because when I was there I create a good relationship with everybody, not just the players, all the staff around and it was like my second family there too so I’ll not forget

that the people treat me good. “I’ll not forget, so I appreciate a lot. “I love Manchester, to be back, I never know, you never know, football you never know.” Ronaldo scored 118 goals from

292 appearances for United, and hit 42 in a single season back in 2008.
