The 26-year-old Dane has still not signed the new contract Tottenham have offered him this summer, with talks ongoing – and that has alerted Europe’s top clubs. PSG have long been keen on

Eriksen, a key player for Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, and made known their interest before the World Cup. But Spurs are desperate to tie Eriksen, who scored 14 goals and made ten

assists last season and played a starring role in Tottenham’s 2-1 opening-day win at Newcastle on Saturday, to a new deal, and equally determined not to sell. Spurs were the only top-flight

club not to sign a player during the transfer window, and Pochettino has made it clear to owner Daniel Levy that he does not want Eriksen to be sold as he could not buy a replacement until

January. Pochettino has a close bond with Eriksen, and had dinner with the midfielder before the World Cup this summer. Eriksen has two years left on his current deal, but unlike many of the

club’s other big names – Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Davinson Sanchez, Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min – he has yet to put pen to paper on an extension. Real Madrid have already shown their

interest in Eriksen to replace Croatian veteran Luka Modric if he moves to Inter Milan. And now PSG are ready to spend to add to new manager Thomas Tuchel’s squad. The big-spending French

giants are ready to unload fringe players Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria to finance the move and stay within Financial Play rules. In June, PSG were cleared of breaking those rules

following last summer’s transfer spending spree, which saw Neymar arrive for £220m and Kylian Mbappe for £160m, but that decision is now under review. The French club have already sold off

Lucas Moura, Serge Aurier, Blaise Matuidi and Claudio Gomes for big fees in the last year, although they have also agreed a deal worth a reported £33m to sign the Schalke defender Thilo

Kehrer. Tottenham have activated an option to play fixtures at Wembley this season amid concerns that the opening of their new stadium will be delayed. Club officials have informed the

Football Association of their intention to play further games at the national stadium, if the new White Hart Lane is not ready on time. Spurs were due to open the doors at the new stadium on

September 15, but work is still continuing and there are concerns that the ground will not be ready on time for the visit of Liverpool on that date. It is understood that Tottenham have

made a payment to the FA to activate the option, which sources close to the club say is being done as a precaution.
