Mike, 53, joined Charlie, 56, and his BBC Breakfast co-host Ben Thompson, 36, on the sofa but before talking about the news from the world of sport, the presenters discussed a latest viral
video circulating on the web. The clip shown on the BBC news programme saw a seagull blocking the view of a motorway traffic camera, with Mike fooling around by joking with the hosts
pretending to be the bird and voiced what he thought the creature would’ve been thinking. Once he was done mimicking the seagull, Mike proceeded to speak about the latest developments in the
world of sport, firstly discussing a recent football championship league game between Liverpool and Barcelona. With Lionel Messi securing the win for Barcelona with a stellar free kick,
Mike began to set the scene but anxious to see the scene first hand, Charlie tried to hurry the sports reporter along. Mike began his segment, following on from the seagull gaffe, saying:
“Well, look, I think we should talk now and get a bird’s eye view of the magic of Lionel Messi, because you look at his free kick angle and it is just beautiful. “He almost takes free kicks
from range like people take penalties. You almost expect him to score,” Mike continued, before Charlie jumped in. The host asked: “Are we going to see it now?” eager to see the moment
unfold, to which Mike replied: “We are in a moment, I’m building up to it.” Thinking he could jokingly reprimand the host, Mike quipped: “Yes, just be patient,” before laughing off the
moment which was all for laughs. “Basically, Liverpool did all they can to try and stop him but it didn’t work at all,” Mike added, turning his attention back to reporting the news.
“Liverpool missed chances but really, it was the magic of Messi which effectively took the championship league semi-final away from Liverpool. Barcelona then three nil winners on the night,”
the sports reporter explained before showing the moment in question. On yesterday’s show, Ben was on hand to present the business news with Charlie subsequently joined by BBC Breakfast
colleague Louise Minchin to host the show. As he joined them to discuss the newspaper headlines of the day, Louise took note of one article about a rare Yeti sighting. Charlie decided to
make reference to Ben’s shoe size in the midst of the discussion, with the business reporter noticing the host staring at him while Louise read the article. Ben asked: “Why’s Charlie looking
at my feet?” to which Charlie replied: “Well we don’t have to look far away for Big Foot do we? Ben… “That’s all I’m saying!” the presenter joked before sports reporter Holly Hamilton, 32,
added: “What a low blow!” Viewers will notice BBC Breakfast regular Dan Walker, 42, has been missing from the red sofa for the past couple of days. Taking to Twitter to address his absence,
Dan informed his 561,000 followers: ““Morning. Filming something for @BBCBreakfast elsewhere this morning. You’ll be able to see it soon. Have a good one #Monumentous.” However, the project
Dan has been working on has not yet been explained so, viewers will have to wait and see what the presenter has up his sleeve. Dan has been a regular on the show since 2016 and is also a
face known to fans of sports programme, Football Focus. Earlier this week, Dan had to correct his colleague and sports reporter Sally Nugent, 47, when she made a blunder regarding a certain
movie franchise. _BBC BREAKFAST AIRS WEEKDAYS AT 6AM ON BBC ONE._
