Reported Missing aired it’s final episode in the series earlier this evening and BBC viewers tuned in for another heartbreaking outcome to a missing persons case. 40-year-old Michael Price,
also known as ‘Micky’, was reported to be missing by his partner Claire when she woke up to find he was not home. After ringing Michael’s mother, who also hadn’t seen him, they both agreed
it was totally out of character for him to disappear. A distressed Claire called the police to report him missing and the following days saw Cheshire police launch a major missing from home
investigation. With Underwater Search, NPAS helicopters and specialist search resources checking every area of the town, they extended their search to the nearby lakes after several public
sightings were called in. But no trace of Michael was found, and the police enquiry quickly ran out of leads. “It was getting to the stage when we were nearly at the end of the search and
I couldn’t quite believe that we had not got anything,” an Officer reported. “There has to be a cut off point, we can’t keep searching the rest of the world.” Whilst the investigation
remained open, the police’s searches diminished. However, the Police Search and Rescue team turned their attention to the rivers surrounding the area where Micky was last seen. Following
several false leads, a parka jacket was found, extremely similar to the one Micky had been said to be wearing when he left the house. But his mother insisted it wasn't Micky’s jacket
and the search continued, this time to the fallen trees that were blocking the river after a Cadaver dog got a scent. Viewers saw diggers pull out the debris and unfortunately nothing
emerged from the water resembling a human body. However, viewers were not prepared for the scene that followed. “I’ve left the underwater search guys and just wanted to have a look at some
woodland, because upon initial search and during the challenge last year, the foliage would have been totally covered," an officer explained. “And then just stuck to this brook here,
and at this point here I just noticed a blue trainer - the toe of the trainer sticking up." It was then confirmed, nearly a year after his disappearance, Micky’s body was found near a
motorway. Taking to Twitter, viewers were “heartbroken” and “left in tears” by the outcome of the episode. One said: “#Reportedmissing…... twice in two weeks. You are breaking my heart
here.” “Oh the worst has happened. They found his body. Oh god. This is horrendous #ReportedMissing,” another remarked. “#ReportedMissing devastating stories week in week out. I didn't
think I would be this emotional over this series,” a third commented. Another added: “#ReportedMissing has been compelling and heart breaking viewing. Such a difficult time for the
families involved. Amazing work by @CheshirePolice and all the specialist teams.” “I’m in tears right now. This is absolutely heartbreaking #ReportedMissing,” a fifth tweeted. _REPORTED
