Plane crashes in nepal: how many recent air disasters have there been?

FRIDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2016 A plane crash killed at least one person after the aircraft apparently came into technical difficulties over the Nepalese mountains. The pilot failed to make an

emergency landing on a farmer's field near the top of a mountain, according to government official Padamlal Lamichane.   The plane, operated by Kasthamandap Airlines, was carrying nine

passengers and two crew members. The crash was about 250 miles from the Nepalese capital Kathmandu.  WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 24, 2016 A passenger plane crashed in bad weather killing 23

passengers and crew, included two children, a Chinese national and a Kuwaiti national.  After hours of helicopter searches, rescuers found the burning wreckage on the mountainside near the

remote village of Rupshe in central Nepal.  The small passenger plane, run by Nepal’s Tara airlines, apparently flew into a mountain while travelling from the tourist town of Pokhara to the

trekking base of Jomsom.  MARCH 2015 Hundreds of passengers had a lucky escape after their plane skidded off the runway at Kathmandu international airport during thick fog.  The passengers

used emergency slides to escape from the Turkish Airways plane. Three people suffered minor injuries, according to officials.  The plane had been attempting to land after a flight from

Istanbul.  FEBRUARY 2014 A small passenger plane crashed into a hill in Western Nepal, killing all 18 people on board.  The wreckage of the plane, which had been carrying mainly Nepali

passengers and a Dane, was found in the Nepalese district of Arghakhanchi.  Nepal Airlines blamed the crash on bad weather at the time. The flight had taken off from Pokhara. SEPTEMBER 2012

A plane crash killed all 19 passengers and crew, including seven British tourists on their way to a Mount Everest trekking adventure.  The aircraft, operated by Sita Air, lost power soon

after taking off from an airport in Nepal's capital Kathmandu.  The cause remains a mystery, although the crew reported a bird strike at the time. MAY 2012 A plane crashed into a

mountain in the Himalayas while trying to land, killing 15 people and critically injuring six. The aircraft, carrying Indian pilgrims and two Westerners, crashed when coming into Jomsom

airport. The plane belonged to the Agni Air company.
