Officials said the high-speed express train left the rails near the coastal city of Bouknadel. Mohamed Rabie Khlie, head of the kingdom's national railway company ONCF, said: "The

derailment has killed six people according to the latest count and left 86 injured in serious condition. "An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the accident.”

Initial reports from the scene suggested two trains had collided but officials said one train had derailed. The cause of the accident was not immediately clear. Reporters at the site said

the train had derailed near some industrial and residential buildings. Ambulances have been ferrying the injured to local hospitals. Reports from the scene suggested the deal toll is

expected to rise. Videos and photos appearing on social media show a train carriage flipped on its side. King Mohammed VI said he would pay the burial costs of the victims and for the

treatment of the injured, who were taken to Rabat's military hospital.
