Snow has caused havoc on the streets of Britain today with amber weather warnings issued across the country. Up to 28cm of snow has already been recorded in Wales by the Met Office - with
large parts of the UK expected to see the heavy snowfall continue. Flights have been cancellation and trains disrupted as temperatures drop and forecasters warn of further travel
disruption. A live webcam below shows the roads in Loughton, Essex - just outside of London - covered in snow, with pedestrians slipping on the nearby walkways. The amber alert was
accompanied by a yellow warning of strong winds of up to 80mph in the Midlands. The Met Office said rural communities could be cut off as roads become too hazardous to drive on. More than
100 vehicles have been left stuck on the A41 Hertfordshire carriageway, which was closed due to "difficult driving conditions" Electricity supplier SSE also confirmed that up to
20,000 homes in Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire are without power after tree branches fell onto the overhead networks. According to the Met Office, many areas would see the cold
temperatures turn into severe frost at the start of next week, presenting a risk of ice. Travel delays for flights and rail journeys are expected to continue - after more than 70 flights
already cancelled by British Airways, a number which the airline expects to rise. In England, average snowfall is expected to be around 10cm, with around 20cm in parts of the Midlands and
Peak District. Significant traffic was reported in Leicestershire, Worcestershire and Bedfordshire, and snow fell heavily in Birmingham city centre. Flights are delayed from Manchester
Airport, while Luton Airport has temporarily suspended all flights due to the snow. National Rail also reports issues with services in London, Wales and East Anglia.
