The weather warning is in force for parts of Scotland from 4:00am BST until 10:00am BST due to heavy rain which may cause flooding and disruption. While there are currently no weather
warnings for other parts of the UK or for the days ahead, Brits are still set to see heavy rainfall across the nation over the coming days.
The regions impacted by the weather alert are: Central, Tayside and Fife, Gramptian, Highlands and Eilean Siar, Southwest Scotland and Lothian Borders, and Strathclyde.
According to the Met Office: “Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, are possible early on Thursday morning.
“Accumulations of 20-30mm are likely in a few hours with a chance of up to 40mm in one or two places.”
The weather forecaster added: “Following recent wet weather, this brings a risk of flooding and possible disruption to transport.
“The rain is expected to turn more showery later in the morning.”
The flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely with public transport links also likely to be affected with journey times taking slightly longer.
Drivers have also been warned to take extra care while driving due to increased spray and flooding on the roads.
